Filament Winding
|
One area of specialization for Composiflex is composite filament winding. An example of Composiflex's successful integration of complementary technologies in solving customer's problems is our development of a very accurate, high tension fiber delivery system for filament winding carbon fiber/epoxy flywheels and permanent magnet rotors. We specialize in this technique using a computer controlled En-Tec filament winding machine, which can wind structures up to 36 inches in diameter and 10 feet long. To complement this machine, Composiflex has 5 feedback control tensioning devices capable of controlling tension within +/-0.1 pound. Using these units, we have sucessfully implemented a fiber feed system that can wind 40 Msi carbon fiber at tensions greater than 25 pounds. Composiflex often winds using a heated resin bath. Composiflex also has a system for multi spindle winding. In one application five tubular glass tubes are wound simultaneously. Accurate tension is applied by the five feedback control devices mentioned above. This approach greatly increases productivity and lowers costs. We also wind a variety of standard tubular structures, which can be sliced and machined to a customer's specifications. |
