Composiflex Purchases New Gerber Cutter
Composiflex has purchased and installed a New Gerber Cutter. This machine is an automated, computer-controlled cutting system that replaces hand-held cutters, templates, and patterns. The cutter uses computer data files to guide its knife. It can cut up to 2.5 cm (1 inch) of compressed fabric using reciprocating knife technology. A conveyorized cutting table efficiently transfers material from the spreading table to the cutter, and cut parts are moved to the bundling area. The Gerber cutter is ideal for small-lot orders. Sophisticated sensing techniques control cutting speed for maximum quality and throughput. This results in more efficient nesting. Consistently accurate cutting gives better material utilization and reduces the amount of re-cuts necessary.
